A simple guide to the final page of your AHC.

What is Page 8?

Page 8 of the bilingual Animal Health Certificate (Page 5 of the English-only version) contains the section titled 'Official at the travellers' point of entry'. This section is reserved for the competent authority responsible for carrying out the documentary and identity checks when your pet first enters the European Union.

 

The highlighted section is completed by the competent authority at the first EU point of entry.

Who completes this section?

This section is not completed by the pet owner and is not completed by the Official Veterinarian issuing the Animal Health Certificate.

 

It is intended to be completed by the competent authority at the first point of entry into the European Union following the documentary and identity checks.

Which country completes Page 8? Examples:

​Journey:   UK → France → Spain

Country completing Page 8: France

​Journey: UK → Netherlands → Germany

Country completing Page 8: The Netherlands

​Journey: UK → Belgium → Luxembourg

Country completing Page 8: Belgium

I'm travelling to France, where is Page 8 usually completed?

Le Shuttle 

Documentary and identity checks are usually carried out before departure in Folkestone. Where applicable, the Page 8/Page 5 section is therefore usually completed before leaving the UK.

Ferry 

Documentary and identity checks are usually carried out after arrival in your first EU country. Where applicable, the Page 8/Page 5 section is therefore usually completed after arrival by the competent authority.
